Shotokan Karate.... The Shreveport Karate Club teaches traditional Shotokan Karate. This traditional form of the Japanese Martial Arts, founded by Gichin Funakoshi, is taught throughout the modern world by many organizations dedicated to preserving this fulfilling form of martial arts. The instruction provided by the Shreveport Karate Club continues these traditions by focusing on traditional teaching methods to build up physical condition and mental concentration. The Shreveport Karate Club is member of the All South Karate Federation and Louisiana Karate Association both founded and operated by Sensei Takayuki Mikami, 8th degree black belt. Sensei Mikami provides testing and training camp activities throughout each year to assist member and associated clubs to grow their clubs and training programs.
